People from far and wide celebrated the biggest event in Knaresborough’s calendar yesterday.
The Great Knaresborough Bed Race, which has been organised annually by Knaresborough Lions since 1966, includes the obvious – the race – in which 90 teams compete for first place, as well as a Best Dressed Bed competition and parade through the town.
Reigning champions GH Brooks took home the crown for the fourth year running, crossing the finish line in just 13 minutes and 3 seconds.
But teams from across the county all took on the 2.4-mile challenge and raised money for a range of charities, including Henshaws, Martin House, Riding for the Disabled and Breast Cancer UK.
Schools, solicitors, builders, ruby players, tree surgeons and more threw themselves into the race and helped to mark the town's favourite day of the year.
